수수께끼같은 물건들, 도살장과 감옥,

drunkards and screeching fishwives,

술 취한 사람들과 악쓰는 여자들,

calving cows, horses sinking to their death,

새끼 낳는 암소와 쓰러진 말들,

tales of robberies, murderers, and suicides.

강도 침입, 살인, 자살 같은 일들이 있었다.

With a face that resembled her son's, timeless, ageless,

그 아들의 얼굴과 똑같이 시간과 나이가 없이

and full of inner strength,

혼이 깃들인 의지 충만한 얼굴로,

the beautiful woman smiled with dignity.

 아름다운 여성이 다정하게 미소 짓소 있었다.

Her gaze was fulfillment, her greeting a homecoming.

그녀의 시선은 성취였다.

그 인사가 뜻하는 것은 귀향이었다.

Silently I stretched my hands out to her. 

말없이 나는 그녀에게 두 손을 내밀었다.
